About the Role

Bard Manufacturing Company, a leading manufacturer of commercial heating and air conditioning systems, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at our corporate office in Bryan, OH.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing, supervising, and coordinating all Engineering activities to supply high-quality, cost-competitive, marketable product designs that meet the marketing and sales objectives of the company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop new air conditioning and heat pump products as part of a team.
  • Select and supervise the selection of components to meet product design objectives and maximize component standardization.
  • Participate in the new product development process and respond to customer complaints, Preventative Action Requests, and Product Maintenance Projects.
  • Review the overall progress of each project and provide detailed monthly progress reports to the department head.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction ideas and programs to meet departmental cost reduction goals.
  • Draft and supervise the drafting of detailed Bills of Materials for new products.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure the manufacturability of new products.
  • Prepare and make submittals to agencies for UL Safety Listings (UL/ETL) and Capacity and Efficiency Ratings (AHRI).
  • Draft new product specifications and installation instructions.
  • Redesign existing products to comply with changing Federal, State, and regional requirements.
  • Provide technical support to the Technical Service Department as needed.
  • Develop process specifications in collaboration with Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Ensure proper product labeling for safety warnings in compliance with ANSI standards.
  • Define and oversee the testing of all equipment in compliance with UL & AHRI standards.
  • Review all test data for compliance and accuracy, ensuring good statistical calculations in accordance with AHRI/DOE requirements.
  • Assist Manufacturing with process improvements and recommendations to ensure continued quality improvements and manufacturing ease.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred, plus 1-2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment; or a combination of education and experience in mechanical engineering will be considered.
  • Positive attitude with hunger to learn.
  • Ability to organize work to meet the departmental goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of air conditioning and heat pump fundamentals.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills. Must be a team player.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with AHRI and UL standards.
