Job Overview

The Mixologist plays a crucial role in ensuring the overall success of the hotel by achieving performance goals within the social venues. This position involves setting up, servicing, and dismantling the bar area while maintaining high standards of quality, consistency, and service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Guest Interaction: Welcome guests warmly as they approach the bar; promote signature drinks and utilize upselling techniques to enhance revenue.
  • Beverage Preparation: Craft beverages as requested by patrons. Follow established pouring standards and drink recipes to ensure a consistent product and manage costs effectively. Collaborate with restaurant staff for food service to bar/lounge guests when necessary.
  • Monitoring and Safety: Observe guest behavior and alcohol consumption to determine when to cease service; inform management of any incidents involving excessive consumption or impaired guests; verify identification when age is in question.
  • Service Recovery: Notify management of any service or safety concerns. Implement appropriate recovery gestures according to established protocols to guarantee complete guest satisfaction.
  • Bar Setup: Prepare the bar with all necessary liquor, mixers, ice, garnishes, glassware, and supplies. Complete pre- and post-shift tasks (empty/fill ice bins, prepare garnishes, restock snacks, etc.). Order all required supplies.
  • Inventory Management: Track unused liquor and beverages. Ensure all liquor is securely stored before, during, and after shifts.
  • Cash Handling: Manage and secure the bartender's bank; process cash and credit transactions from customers; provide accurate change and balance the cash drawer at the end of the shift.
  • Cleanliness and Maintenance: Inspect the bar daily for cleanliness and visual appeal; check all equipment for proper operation. Clean the bar area after shifts, including sweeping and mopping floors, and wiping down surfaces.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:

Basic reading, writing, and math skills are essential. Familiarity with liquor brands, beer, wine, champagne, non-alcoholic beverages, glassware, preparation methods, and garnishments is required. Formal bartending training is preferred. Must meet state legal age requirements and speak fluent English.
  • OLCC Certification Required
  • Food Handlers Certification Required
This role requires the ability to perform the following tasks:
  • Handling, carrying, or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds (barware, carts, boxes, bottles, etc.)
  • Moving throughout the bar, lounge, and kitchen areas
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling, and lifting
Communication Skills: Effective communication is essential when interacting with guests, wait staff, cooks, and supervisors.

Certifications: Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state regulations.
