About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Structural Engineer to join our team at McDermott, a leading provider of engineering, procurement, construction, and installation services to the energy industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead structural project teams and oversee the design and analysis of onshore and offshore oil & gas, LNG, and renewables industry projects.
  • Develop and implement structural design philosophies, basis of design, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with geotechnical engineers to implement geotechnical recommendations and provide input in support of permitting efforts.
  • Prepare material requisitions and subcontract scopes of work, and perform technical bid evaluations and supplier document reviews.
  • Provide engineering manhour and quantity estimates, and coordinate with supporting offices.
  • Prepare and check calculations, identify potential changes, and track engineering quantities against budget.
  • Provide schedule and progress updates, and support construction activities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of the structural engineering team.
Requirements
  • BS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Registered Professional Engineer.
  • Minimum 15 years of civil/structural engineering experience, with a minimum of 10 years of structural engineering experience on offshore EPF projects in the oil & gas industry.
  • Minimum 5 years of structural engineering experience in offshore lead roles.
  • Knowledge of civil/structural engineering codes and standards, and proficiency in detail civil/structural engineering and design work procedures and processes.
  • Proficient in civil/structural analysis software, and strong communication skills and professional ethics to interface with clients and project teams.
