Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Controls Engineer to join our team at Horwitz. In this critical role, you will lead complex Building Automation Systems (BAS) projects, mentor junior technicians, and manage relationships with key customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership:
    • Lead and manage high-impact BAS projects from planning through to completion, ensuring all phases meet quality standards and deadlines.
    • Oversee the system commissioning process, including software loading, configuration, and diagnostics, ensuring successful project delivery.
    • Develop detailed project plans, manage resources, and coordinate with various teams to resolve issues and mitigate risks.
  • Mentoring and Team Development:
    • Provide advanced technical guidance and training to junior technicians, enhancing their skills in system commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer service.
    • Conduct regular mentoring sessions and performance reviews to support the professional development of team members.
    • Facilitate the sharing of best practices and innovative techniques to improve team efficiency and project outcomes.
  • Customer Relationship Management:
    • Act as the primary technical liaison for key customers, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring their satisfaction with our products and services.
    • Conduct regular meetings with customers to review project progress, address technical concerns, and explore opportunities for additional services.
    • Manage customer feedback and resolve technical issues promptly, maintaining high levels of service and customer trust.
  • Advanced Technical Expertise and Support:
    • Utilize in-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, electronic test equipment, and BAS technologies to troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and controls problems.
    • Perform advanced system calibrations and make necessary program changes to optimize system performance.
    • Ensure all technical documentation is accurate, complete, and updated, including as-built documentation and system manuals.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to all safety standards and protocols, ensuring a high level of safety for yourself, your team, and subcontractors.
    • Participate in and conduct safety training sessions to maintain a safe working environment and compliance with company and industry standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • A minimum of an Associate's Degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
    • Advanced certifications in BAS technologies or HVAC systems are required.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in BAS system commissioning, troubleshooting, and project management is required.
    • Proven experience in leading technical projects and mentoring teams is essential.
  • Skills:
    • Advanced understanding of HVAC systems, electronic test equipment, and BAS technologies is required.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and technical acumen in diagnosing and resolving complex issues are essential.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service and relationship management, are required.
    • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure is crucial.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • A strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship is required.
    • The ability to travel to various job sites as required is essential.
    • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
