Job Summary
The Telemetry Technician is a vital member of the healthcare team at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare, responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support in the inpatient setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Attach electrode lead lines to proper body areas based on type of test ordered.
- Prepare skin and surroundings to ensure valid results.
- Obtain and document ECG readings as directed.
- Perform continual surveillance of multiple monitors.
- Identify significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervene appropriately.
- Identify and correct for artifacts.
- Edit and forward results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation.
- Maintain ECG equipment and supplies.
Requirements
- Ability to work 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts from 7am to 7:30pm, with a every other weekend rotation and a vacation rotation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of telemetry monitoring and ECG equipment.
