Hematology/Oncology Clinic Registered Nurse

Nashville General Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Hematology/Oncology Clinic team as a PRN RN. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality patient care, work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, and contribute to the delivery of exceptional patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess patient history, medical and surgical problems, patient medications, pain level, risk factors, current complaint, and other needs to prepare patients for physician/practitioner visits.
  • Evaluate patient status and make recommendations based on assessment, documenting assessment per clinic policy.
  • Safely perform and correctly document nursing interventions consistent with hospital and clinic policies, assisting physicians/practitioners as needed.
  • Communicate pertinent information to patients/families regarding their care and/or procedures, evaluating and documenting the patient's response to interventions and procedures.
  • Administer medications and monitor response, assist with medication refills and patient requests, use clinic equipment appropriately, and report concerns regarding patient status or test results to physician.
  • Participate in providing information related to health prevention, health maintenance, and health restoration, considering patient cultural/religious practices, learning needs, emotional barriers, physical and cognitive limitations, language, and level of understanding.
  • Refer patients to available educational programs as available, participate in data gathering and other quality assessment/improvement activities, and work with co-workers to assure departmental compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an approved nursing program.
  • Active license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Tennessee.
  • Oncology (ONS) Certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Employee must have valid BLS upon hire. CPI required within 90 days of hire.
  • 1 year experience as Registered Nurse preferred.
