Job Overview

Position Title: Canvasser

Reporting To: Office Director

Employment Status: This role is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and requires a commitment of 37.5 hours per week.

Attendance Requirement: A minimum attendance rate of 90% is expected for all positions within Shawmut Services.

Physical Demands: The position necessitates the ability to carry equipment, walk to various locations, and stand for extended periods. Candidates should be prepared to work outdoors and endure varying weather conditions. Reliable transportation is essential.

Role Objective: To advocate for the 'For Purpose' clients of Shawmut Services by effectively communicating key messages to potential supporters, aiming to secure a significant number of new committed donors while maintaining low attrition rates through face-to-face fundraising efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Face-to-Face Recruitment of Committed Donors:

  • Engage with the public at designated sites, both indoors and outdoors, as assigned by management to recruit new committed donors for Shawmut Services' clients;
  • Consistently achieve and surpass recruitment goals set by the Office Director, typically aiming for a minimum of 8 new committed donors weekly, adhering to quality standards;
  • Represent Shawmut Services and its clients professionally and knowledgeably, in accordance with industry and client codes of conduct;
  • Maintain a positive and composed demeanor, ensuring potential donors are approached with enthusiasm;
  • Accurately report and manage administrative tasks as required by management, ensuring all records are maintained correctly;
  • Provide your own transportation to work sites, ensuring all necessary equipment is available, and proactively plan travel routes;
  • Be available to work during non-traditional hours, including weekends and holidays, as the role demands;
  • Attend training sessions and meetings punctually as required.

Essential Qualifications and Attributes

  • Proven experience in face-to-face fundraising or direct sales;
  • Proficient in both written and spoken English;
  • Attention to detail in record-keeping.
  • Access to reliable transportation.

Compensation Structure

Base Salary: The hourly wage for a Canvasser ranges from $20 to $24.

A full-time Canvasser works 37.5 hours per week.

This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Bonus Incentives:

The objectives of the bonus structure include:

  1. Encouraging efficient and high-quality fundraising efforts;
  2. Ensuring competitive compensation for Shawmut Services' Canvassers;
  3. Implementing an objective reward system for activity;
  4. Maintaining clarity and ease of understanding in the bonus structure;
  5. Ensuring the system is manageable and applicable.

Definitions:

Base Pay: The hourly wage for all employees, varying by role, paid bi-weekly in arrears.

Bonus Pay: Additional compensation based on performance criteria, also paid bi-weekly in arrears.

Bonus Threshold: The minimum number of donors required to be recruited weekly to qualify for bonus pay.

Additional Incentives: Individual incentives may be introduced at the discretion of Shawmut Services management.

The bonus structure is subject to change based on business needs.
