Job Title: Scientific Aid

Job Summary:

The Department of Fish and Wildlife is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Scientific Aid to assist our team of Environmental Scientists with various biological and land management tasks. This is an exciting opportunity to gain valuable experience in species conservation, research, and data analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist Environmental Scientists with live-trapping and handling of threatened and endangered animals
  • Deploy and analyze wildlife camera traps and other biological monitoring techniques
  • Conduct research projects, data entry, and analysis
  • Prepare documents, library research, and specimen preparation
  • Perform routine maintenance on Department-owned lands, including trash pick-up, sign posting, and weed control
Working Conditions:

The Scientific Aid will work in a fast-paced environment, split between office and fieldwork. The ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions, operate equipment, and walk over uneven terrain is essential. Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Requirements:
  • Ability to use a computer, including familiarity with Microsoft Office software
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physical ability to perform tasks in a fast-paced environment
