Job Summary

White Plains Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Oncology Pharmacist to join our team. As a key member of our pharmacy department, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care to our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical and dispensing services for our hematology/oncology practices and patients.
  • Work closely with our infusion center, hematology/oncology unit, and oncology physician practice nursing staff to ensure seamless care.
  • Review patient medication orders against their medication profiles, adhering to hospital and pharmacy policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide medication education, safety, and patient rights.
  • Monitor and utilize methods of infection control, participate in PI and risk management programs, and demonstrate competency in established standards.
  • Utilize problem-solving skills, practice good judgment, and make informed decisions to ensure patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to provide excellent customer service.
  • Supervise pharmacy assistants and perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited school of pharmacy with a minimum of a BS in Pharmacy.
  • NYS Pharmacist license and current New York registration required.
  • 2-3 years of hospital pharmacy experience, with a minimum of three annual CE requirements in chemotherapy/oncology.
  • Oncology certification by NYSCHP or BPS or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in hematology/oncology and infusion center operations preferred.

Work Environment

As an Oncology Pharmacist at White Plains Hospital, you will be working in a fast-paced environment with a team of dedicated healthcare professionals. You will be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks, and you must be physically able to ambulate or be stationary for extended periods. You will also be required to communicate effectively in written and verbal English, and to maintain a positive attitude with positive responses to conflict resolution.
