Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Bayhealth. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing laboratory procedures, reporting test results, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory procedures, including receiving and processing specimens, and reporting test results in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Verify patient identification and specimen acceptability, and ensure that all laboratory procedures are performed in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with laboratory coworkers, physicians, and other caregivers to ensure continuity of procedures and to report any critical or significant values.
  • Consult with lead tech, supervisor, or pathologist prior to releasing test results whenever test findings are inconsistent with the clinical picture, or whenever difficulties with the procedure are encountered and are unresolved.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, and ensure that all Infection Control / Safety protocols are always followed.
  • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility by utilizing all supplies appropriately to avoid wastage, and properly disposing of waste.
Requirements
  • Associate Degree in Medical Lab Sciences or equivalent.
  • Experience in a clinical laboratory setting, preferably in a hospital or healthcare organization.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures and protocols, and ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
