We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Health Instructional Assistant to join our team at Charter Oak Unified School District. As a Health Instructional Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs, providing instructional and behavioral support, and assisting with daily living activities.
Key Responsibilities- Assist teachers with implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and providing instructional support to students with special needs.
- Provide behavioral support and interventions to students, including positive behavior intervention strategies and reinforcement techniques.
- Assist students with daily living activities, such as toileting, feeding, and personal hygiene.
- Operate medical equipment, including oral suctioning, gastronomy, and orthopedic equipment.
- Attend training and in-services related to medical interventions and instructional programs.
- Assist students with getting on and off the bus, including pushing students in wheelchairs and lifting students in and out of orthopedic equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; two years of experience working with children with special needs preferred.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds to shoulder height and 40 pounds to waist height.
The Health Instructional Assistant will work in a classroom and school site environment, interacting with students with special needs and potentially exposed to bodily fluids, blood-borne pathogens, and infectious diseases.
