Key Responsibilities and Qualifications

">
  • Patient Identification: Ensure patient safety, verify patient identification, obtain patient history, assist patients and family members who require extra attention, and ensure patient understanding.
  • MRI Technology: Operate MRI scanners, demonstrate knowledge of MRI and cross-sectional human anatomy, maintain active status with ARRT or ARMRIT by accruing CE's when needed, and select appropriate scanning parameters.
  • Contrast: Administer oral contrast to adult and pediatric patients according to protocols, establish intravenous lines, administer IV contrast following safe and proper injection procedures, determine contrast eligibility, check lab values before contrast injection per protocol, and follow correct procedure to determine contrast eligibility.
  • Image Transfer: Transmit images to QC, UNCH's EMR, EPIC, and PACS, verify and segment images at the QC station, access IMPAX service tools to verify image transmission, complete, modify, and/or cancel orders in an appropriate and timely manner, cancel duplicate orders to avoid duplicate billing, and ensure that all charge information is accurate.
  • Other Duties: Perform tasks in a timely manner, run the schedule creating a consistent workflow, volunteer to work on challenging tasks, difficult procedures, and new research, produce quality diagnostic images, review patient charts and reports for correlation, maintain a clean and orderly work environment, create and keep documentation of incidents as improvement opportunities for employees and the department, precept new employees and students, and maintain current competency in HCP BLS.

Education, Licensure, and Certification

  • Education Requirements: Completion of an accredited educational program in Radiological Science or completion within 3 months at time of application.
  • Licensure/Certification Requirements: Registration with the American Registry of Radiological Sciences, American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists, or registry eligible. For registry eligible candidates, provide a copy of diploma from accredited program.
  • Professional Experience Requirements: Prior education, training, and experience that provides the ability to perform assigned tasks.
  • KSA Requirements: Prior experience in MRI technology, strong analytical skills, ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare staff, and adaptability to changing situations.
