Location:
Rockland County NY (near Nanuet NY) and the NY/NJ state border – Commute from areas with a lower cost of living or from regions with a higher cost of living.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct experiments, gather data, and analyze samples in accordance with established procedures and analytical protocols.
- Assist in the assembly and safe operation of laboratory-scale extrusion and reactor systems.
- Maintain a detailed lab notebook, meticulously observing and reporting trends, anomalies, and unexpected results.
- Perform routine analytical tests using techniques such as GC, HPLC, ICP, and TGA on samples from micro-units and small pilot plants.
- Draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), conduct safety reviews, and participate in necessary training sessions.
- Contribute to the design and development of pilot and commercial plants based on research outcomes.
- Collaborate with teams managing large pilot plants and technology licensing partners to facilitate commercial plant design.
- Prepare R&D summaries and presentations for senior management and clients.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Consideration will be given to Chemists with experience in building and operating small-scale pilot plants.
- Preferred 2+ years of experience in an industrial R&D setting, including co-ops and internships.
- Experience in scaling processes from bench to pilot plant levels.
- Mechanical aptitude for constructing, setting up, and troubleshooting laboratory equipment.
- Familiarity with extrusion processes or polymer processing unit operations.
- Experience with LabView is advantageous.
- Must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer without sponsorship now or in the future.
