Role Purpose:

As a driver in food and food service delivery, you play an essential role in maintaining the integrity of the food supply chain. Our drivers ensure that products reach customers promptly and in excellent condition, serving as the face of our organization and fostering lasting relationships with clients.

Drivers are tasked with operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck for local, interstate, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes to deliver and unload food and related products safely and efficiently, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues, ensuring timely and accurate responses to inquiries.
  • Collaborate effectively as a team member within the department and organization, performing any assigned duties to best serve the company.
  • Conduct all necessary safety inspections (e.g., pre/post trip) of the tractor/truck and trailer in compliance with DOT regulations; ensure all vehicles meet company safety standards and take appropriate actions as necessary.
  • Report any safety concerns or required repairs promptly.
  • Adhere to all DOT regulations and company driving safety policies.
  • Immediately report any safety hazards and inspect trailers for properly loaded and secured freight.
  • Perform inventory checks of items and verify customer invoices for loaded products.
  • Complete all required paperwork related to freight accurately and legibly.
  • Position the tractor at the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as needed.
  • Drive to deliver customer orders according to a predetermined delivery schedule.
  • Unload products from the trailer and transport them to designated storage areas at customer locations.
  • Conduct damage control checks on items, scan products, and notify supervisors about any orders that need to be removed per company policy.
  • Confirm delivery of items with customers and obtain necessary signatures.
  • Collect payments (cash or checks) as required, load customer returns onto the trailer, and secure trailer doors.
  • Ensure that the tractor, trailer, and freight are always secured and locked appropriately.
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns, bringing them to the driver check-in and completing necessary documentation. Remove all equipment and trash from trailers as required.
  • Maintain a daily record of service hours and log them according to Federal DOT, state, and company regulations.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clean and organized as needed.
  • At the end of each shift, secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 6 months of commercial driving experience
  • High school diploma or GED or state-approved equivalent
  • Valid CDL A license
  • Compliance with all state licensing and certification requirements (if applicable)
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years
  • Successful completion of post-offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass a road test
  • Valid current DOT Health Card or ability to obtain a new one
  • Able to lift and utilize equipment to move and stack product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights throughout the shift; products typically range from 10-35 pounds and can be up to 60-90 pounds depending on the location
