At Northwestern Medicine, we are committed to delivering exceptional patient care and creating a positive work environment. As a Patient Care Technician in our Float Pool, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and promoting the physical, personal, emotional, and hygienic needs of patients assigned to you.
Responsibilities:- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, including activities of daily living, observations, and assisting patients with personal hygiene and toileting needs.
- Monitor and record vital signs, turn and reposition bedridden patients, and transport patients as needed.
- Ensure patient rooms are clean, tidy, and stocked with supplies.
- Provide continuous safety observation of patients identified to be at risk for causing injury to themselves or others.
- Offer basic comfort measures to help patients relax and address the emotional needs of specific patients served.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Healthcare Provider BLS (CPR) Certification
- CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) Certification or completion of one year of clinical practicum in a hospital setting via a certified nursing program
- CPI Certification within 90 days of hire
- Proficient computer and technology skills
- Strong ability to multitask and prioritize workflow under various circumstances
- Willingness to work in a team environment
- Flexibility to work in a variety of acute care environments upon little notice
- Excellent communication skills
