Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Family Peer to join our team at Oklahoma Mental Health Council dba Red Rock Behavioral Health Services. As a Family Peer, you will play a vital role in supporting families and children with mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a liaison between families, Department of Human Services, courts, hospitals, schools, and other community agencies to ensure seamless access to services.
  • Provide support and guidance to families, helping them navigate the treatment system and access necessary resources.
  • Organize and facilitate parent/youth support groups, promoting engagement and participation.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and maintain effective working relationships with consumers, staff, and community partners.
  • Complete paperwork to document activities and observations in a timely manner.
  • Participate in group outings and ensure safety for clients and their families.
  • Maintain core competencies in co-occurring disorders through continuing education and implement skills into treatment.
  • Promote community education projects to increase awareness of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) & Acute Mental Health Crises.
  • Support the facilitation of Care Plans for consumers within the Red Rock Health Team.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Lived experience as a caregiver of a child, youth, or young adult with mental health or behavioral health challenges.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Proof of insurance.
  • Completion of Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) Wrap 101 Training.
