Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant - CNA to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist RNs with daily patient care activities, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and ambulation.
  • Measure and document patient data, such as blood pressures, temperatures, and intake/output.
  • Perform purposeful rounding and communicate patient observations and concerns to RNs.
  • Participate in admission, transfer, and discharge processes, including room setup and patient orientation.
  • Collect and process patient specimens, perform point-of-care testing, and maintain competency.
  • Complete various errands, maintain stock, and clean equipment and work areas.
  • Perform patient positioning and transporting duties, utilizing proper technique and assistive devices.
  • Support patient nutritional needs, including diet review, tray setup, and positioning.
  • Practice infection prevention policies and procedures, demonstrating hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile and aseptic techniques.
Requirements
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 45 days.
  • Nurse Aide certification in good standing with the State Registry.
  • High School Graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED).
  • Basic computer skills and excellent oral and written communication.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
  • Must have functional vision and hearing.
  • Will be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards, as well as blood and body fluids.
