Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Select, supervise, train, and evaluate vessel managers and their teams to ensure optimal performance and compliance with government regulations and company policies.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between vessel management and shore-based personnel to maintain strong working relationships and effective communication channels.
  • Maintain positive public relations with local, state, and federal agencies while representing the company in discussions regarding navigation and vessel operations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance operational safety and efficiency, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to align vessel operations with company objectives and goals.
  • Stay current with industry trends by attending workshops, reviewing publications, building professional networks, and participating in industry groups.
  • Conduct performance evaluations of staff members to identify areas for improvement and development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum high school diploma is required; a Master Towing Vessel's license is preferred but not necessary.
  • A valid Driver's License and excellent driving record are essential; a TWIC card must be obtained or already held.
  • 5-10 years of experience in vessel operations, with tanker/barge experience being desirable.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills are crucial for success in this role.
  • Self-motivation, problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in Microsoft Office are also essential.
  • Able to travel up to 40% to vessel locations and work weekends and evenings as needed.
