Oncology Nurse

The Oncology Nurse is a vital member of the Springfield Clinic team, responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support in the oncology department. As a registered nurse with a passion for oncology, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide professional nursing care to patients with cancer, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.
- Administer medications, treatments, and other interventions as prescribed by physicians and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical exams, medical histories, and laboratory results.
- Develop and implement education programs for patients and their families on cancer diagnosis, treatment options, and self-care techniques.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and develop treatment plans.
- Document patient information, including medical histories, treatment plans, and outcomes, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medication lists, treatment plans, and test results.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Stay current with the latest oncology research, treatments, and best practices through ongoing education and professional development.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
- Experience in oncology nursing or a related field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in electronic medical records.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.
- Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) or related certification.
- Experience with chemotherapy and biotherapy administration.
- Knowledge of oncology research and treatment options.
- Ability to speak multiple languages.
