About the Job

As an Optical Technician at Marathon Health, you will play a critical role in providing care to patients, working closely with doctors and opticians to ensure excellent patient outcomes. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Interpreting Prescriptions: Accurately interpret prescriptions written by optometrists to ensure patients receive the correct treatment.
  • Eye Care Education: Educate patients on their corrective lens options, helping them make informed decisions that fit their medical needs and lifestyle preferences.
  • Eye Measurements: Collect and record eye measurements, including visual acuity, autorefraction, and intraocular pressure readings.
  • Patient Histories: Review and collect patient histories to ensure accurate and comprehensive care.
  • Communication: Clearly and effectively communicate patient results and concerns to doctors.
  • Scheduling: Manage the clinical schedule to ensure optimized patient care.
  • Inventory Management: Keep track of orders, prescriptions, and inventory to ensure seamless operations.
  • Vendor Relationships: Manage relationships with vendors to ensure timely and efficient delivery of services.
  • Electronic Health Records: Schedule appointments and interpret electronic health records to ensure accurate and up-to-date patient information.

Qualifications

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Optical Technician with a strong background in dispensing corrective lenses. Preferred qualifications include:

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in a related field, plus a minimum of 2 years' experience in dispensing corrective lenses or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certifications: Certified as a Dispensing Optician, with American Board of Opticianry (ABO) and National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLE) certification preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent customer service skills, proficiency in interpersonal and interprofessional communication, strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, and the ability to stay calm and upbeat in a fast-paced environment.

Pay Range

The actual offer may vary dependent upon geographic location and the candidate's years of experience and/or skill level.
