This is a Part-Time Staff Pool in our Continuing Education Workforce Development (CEWD) department for available assignments during the academic year. Applications are considered throughout the academic year and reviewed based on departmental needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Staff Support: Assists in the recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluating of support staff.
  • Technology Integration: Uses available technologies and identifies adaptive techniques as appropriate teaching and learning tools to accommodate students' learning styles and abilities.
  • Communication: Effectively communicates to present information accurately and clearly to support services, student advocates, and guardians.
  • Professional Development: Participates in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in special education and teaching methodologies.

  • Confidentiality: Adheres to local, state, and federal guidelines regarding confidentiality and ensures compliance with all relevant laws and regulations related to special education.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Assists in the development, distribution, and collection of assessments for courses and program objectives.
  • Record Keeping: Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, attendance, and other relevant data as required by the college.
Work Environment

The incumbent typically works in a classroom environment and uses a computer, telephone, and other office equipment as needed to perform duties.

Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Certification: Valid teaching certification or licensure in Special Education.
  • Skills: Knowledge of various instructional strategies, assessment techniques, and assistive technologies used in special education.
  • Communication: Demonstrate proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Classroom Management: Effective classroom management skills to provide an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Self-Motivation: Self-motivated.
  • Collaboration: Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
