Facilities and Operations/Custodian
Position Purpose:
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, safety, functionality, and security of assigned facilities in alignment with established standards and district policies.
Work Schedule:
8 hours/day - 5 days/week - 52 weeks/year
Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma and be physically capable of performing essential job functions. Proficiency in spelling, writing, and basic English language skills is required. Candidates should demonstrate skills in maintaining school facilities to meet health and safety standards.
A strong work history with good to excellent attendance and positive performance evaluations from previous supervisors is essential. Ability to work effectively in a diverse environment is also required.
Key Responsibilities:
A comprehensive job description is available upon request from the Facilities Office. Responsibilities include:
- Working from ladders and occasionally from scaffolding
- Lifting weights ranging from 10 to 40 pounds, with varying frequency
- Vacuuming and extracting carpets
- Performing tasks such as dusting, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and waxing floors
- Operating safety-sensitive equipment (lifts & scrubbers)
- Maintaining cleanliness in all assigned areas according to the work schedule
- Adhering to attendance requirements and performing additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Custodial Operations or principal/designee.
Physical and Mental Demands:
Physical Requirements:
The role requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and other physical activities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment typically ranges from moderate to loud.
Mental Functions:
The position necessitates skills in comparison, analysis, communication (both oral and written), coordination, instruction, computation, synthesis, evaluation, and interpersonal relations.
