Head Coach Position

Rockford Public School District #205 is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Head Coach to lead our athletic program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for guiding student athletes to achieve a high level of skill, discipline, sportsmanship, and citizenship.
Job Summary:The Head Coach will oversee and promote the athletic program in accordance with NFHS, IHSA, and RPS #205 Board Policies and athletic handbook. This includes ensuring that all actions are in concert with Board policies and the mission statement, beliefs, objectives, and parameters found in the Board's strategic plan.
Responsibilities:- Plan and communicate with assistant coaching staff regarding practice schedule and competition strategies to ensure the health, physical well-being, and success of student athletes.
- Coordinate fundraisers, athletic activity account deposits, and distribution of funds in accordance with Board Policy.
- Manage the distribution and collection of uniforms and sport-specific inventory.
- Ensure that all student athletes are in compliance with District requirements, including athletic physicals, student code of conduct, athletic fees paid, academic eligibility, and all other standards included in the district athletic handbook.
- Model and instill values of sportsmanship, citizenship, and teamwork.
- Assist with the selection of assistant and volunteer coaches.
- Properly supervise student athletes during all related activities and events.
- Maintain individual and team statistics and records.
- Plan and implement a seasonal awards recognition program through the building athletic office.
- Engage in sport-specific professional development education.
- Implement programmatic instruction of sequential fundamentals to their feeder programs and work closely with the strength and conditioning coach.
- Valid Illinois Teachers Certificate and/or meets IHSA Criteria (Qualification of Coaches - 2.070).
- Previous coaching experience preferred.

- Ability to work independently under broad or limited supervision.

- Ability to take responsibility for his or her team assignments.
- Ability to use clear, concise language to provide timely and accurate written and oral communication.
Moderate in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel. Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work.
