Job Title: Technical Director

City of Glasgow is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Director to join our team. As a key member of our theatre operations team, you will be responsible for managing the technical aspects of our performances and events.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all technical aspects of performances and events, including stage lighting, sound, and rigging systems.
  • Assist the Plaza Director in negotiating technical requirements with touring shows and coordinating technical needs for events and rentals.
  • Communicate with artist production teams, sound/light companies, and local organizers to establish technical needs for events.
  • Organize and assist in the load-in and load-out of events, including acquiring necessary staff and equipment.
  • Maintain a physical presence at the theatre for all events and rentals, unless alternate arrangements are made with the Plaza Director.
  • Supervise and oversee in-house stage lighting and sound equipment, other house equipment, and security systems.
  • Work with the Plaza Director to order and maintain technical supplies as needed.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of available equipment to keep a high-quality, up-to-date facility.
  • Train and supervise technical personnel and volunteers.
Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an equivalent GED certificate, supported by one to three years of responsible experience in an entertainment/theatre venue.
  • Candidate with demonstrated abilities in theatre technology, technical/stage/sound/rigging systems is preferred.
Special Requirements:
  • Must be able to work a varied schedule.
  • Ability to successfully complete background and drug screenings.
  • Must possess or be able to achieve Server Training in Alcohol Regulations (STAR) certification within 30 days of initial hire.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of modern theatrical lighting, sound, rigging, and staging systems.
  • Working knowledge of modern office procedures, methods, and techniques, including computer software use.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the general public.
