Computer Information Systems Faculty Position

The InsideHigherEd institution is seeking a highly qualified Full-Time Computer Information Systems Instructor to teach computer science and computer information systems to a diverse student population. The successful candidate will be responsible for staying abreast of ongoing developments, trends, and issues in computing as well as instruction in the community college environment.
Key Responsibilities- Teaching and Instruction: Instruct students in the knowledge, skills, and abilities pertaining to the assigned courses.
- Student Support: Consider the needs of the students and assist them by seeking help from other college services.
- Course Management: Distribute to all students a course syllabus that covers the class requirements, grading procedure, attendance requirements, and student learning outcomes.
- Student Guidance: Inform students of educational and occupational opportunities.
- Assessment and Reporting: Submit midterm and final grade reports, deficiency notices, attendance records, and any other reports pertaining to the assigned courses.
- Professional Development: Stay abreast of ongoing developments, trends, and issues in computer information systems and computer science instruction at the community college.
- Collaboration and Service: Work with district high school representatives on course articulation and student recruitment, work with representatives from four-year institutions of higher learning to articulate the program, serve on the CIS advisory committee, maintain and develop CIS curriculum, actively participate in assessment activities, and serve on College-wide committees.
- Master's Degree: Master's Degree in Computer Science, MBA, or a related discipline with a minimum of 15 hours in discipline or related professional work experience.
- Teaching Experience: College-level teaching experience, preferably at a community college.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Professional Qualifications: Professional work experience developing applications, experience working with advisory committees and on curriculum and course development, CompTIA or other industry certification, and a background in academic assessment at the course and/or program level.
