License: Registered Nurse (RN) - State Board of Nursing
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Must-Have: Previous experience with Intermediate Care/Stepdown acuity and Neuro patients
Job Description:
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality patient care in a mixed acuity unit, handling Intermediate Care, Tele, and MedSurg patients.
- Manage surgical cases including urology, prostatectomy, bowel obstruction, and general abdominal surgeries.
- Care for orthopedic cases such as total joints, orthopedic trauma with external fixation, and minor fractures.
- Treat neuro/spine patients, including post-procedure CVA/TIA, seizures, brain tumors, and spinal surgical patients.
- Manage general medical conditions like cellulitis, influenza, pneumonia, and gastrointestinal disorders.
- Perform patient ratios of RN to PCU, with support from CNAs and charge nurses.
- Required skills include cardiac strip interpretation, chest tube, and trach care, wound care, medication administration, and managing various lines and drains.
- Utilize pod structure for patient care with adequate support staff, including two charge nurses per floor and a flex nurse.
- Work within the charting system Epic, with a preference for prior experience.
- Potential to float to any adult inpatient unit as needed, following rotation with other team members.
- Mandatory orientation includes a facility and unit orientation, with additional classroom training and supervised shifts.
- Comply with monthly audits for pre/post pain scoring, maintaining a 90% compliance rate.
- Weekend scheduling involves a potential rotation of up to 4 weekends in a 6-week schedule, with preferences for working every weekend considered.
- Comply with holiday expectations and blackout dates for time-off requests.
