Position Overview:


Become a vital part of a leading academic healthcare institution, UChicago Medicine Crown Point, as a Healthcare Assistant in our Cancer Care Center.

UChicago Medicine is a comprehensive academic and community health organization with several primary medical facilities located in the suburbs of Chicago.

Our Crown Point facility is a state-of-the-art, two-story, 130,000-square-foot multispecialty care center and micro-hospital, representing the largest off-site facility of the academic health system and its inaugural standalone building in Indiana.


The Healthcare Assistant plays a crucial role in delivering a broad range of patient care services under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Advanced Practice Nurse (APN), or Physician.

These services may encompass both therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
Embrace and embody UChicago Medicine's core values and principles of Patient-Centered Care.


Execute any or all responsibilities related to direct patient care as assigned by the registered nurse or physician, adhering to nursing policies and procedures.

Effectively implement and document patient and family education as directed by the RN or physician.

Record and monitor vital signs.

Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations or diagnostic procedures.

Conduct tests specific to the patient demographic, such as pregnancy tests, urinalysis, and hemocults.

Thoroughly document all aspects of patient care in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.

Support the collection of specimens, ensuring proper labeling and logging in compliance with hospital standards.

Perform phlebotomy services.

Administer medications as prescribed by a physician or APN.

Assist in transporting, lifting, and aiding patients using wheelchairs, stretchers, and examination tables.

Utilize computer systems to gather information and schedule appointments.

Prepare, clean, and monitor instruments and equipment in line with hospital standards.


Regularly check schedules, oversee the waiting area and examination rooms, promptly execute physician orders, and assist patients as needed to ensure a positive experience.


Qualifications:
High School Diploma

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (CMA Credential)

Phlebotomy training

Licenses or Certifications:
Certified Medical Assistant

Current Certificate in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training

Successful completion of the CMA certification exam or Registered MA exam within six months of hire.
