Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Criminal Justice and Criminology to join our faculty at Appalachian State University.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a range of courses in Criminal Justice and Criminology, including introductory and advanced courses, as well as online and face-to-face instruction.
  • Develop and maintain a research agenda that contributes to the field of Criminal Justice and Criminology.
  • Advise and mentor students in their academic and professional pursuits.
  • Participate in departmental and university service, including committee work and other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Criminal Justice/Criminology or a related discipline at the time of appointment.
  • ABDs will be considered, but must provide evidence of successful dissertation defense by July 31 for a fall hire or November 30 for a spring hire.
  • Experience with Corrections and Institutional Corrections is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Postdoctoral research experience or teaching experience in a higher education setting.
  • Experience with curriculum development and program assessment.
  • Strong research and teaching skills, with a focus on student-centered learning and pedagogy.
