The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to fill the position of Police Cadet. As a Police Cadet, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience and skills in law enforcement while working under the supervision of experienced police officers.

• Perform routine non-sworn duties under direct supervision.
• Participate in a work rotation through bureaus of the Police Department in preparation for a law enforcement career.
• Serve as a prime role model and mentor for younger students in the Explorers program.
• Write reports and attend community events.
• Contribute to public statement writings and perform clerical tasks.
• Participate in physical fitness activities and other duties as assigned.

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must be a full-time high school student in grade 10 or above or a full-time college student.
• Must have satisfactory academic progress.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Must be able to obtain First Aid and CPR certification within 6 months of hire.
• Must be willing to participate fully in Cadet education, activities, and duties.

The Police Cadet position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to adapt to changing situations. The position also requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
