Harvest Preparatory Academy, a K-12 public charter institution, is actively seeking qualified candidates for the role of Security personnel at our Yuma location. The primary responsibility of the school security officer is to foster a culture of student accountability while assisting the educational staff in ensuring the safety of students, faculty, and the overall security of the premises.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe duties of the Security Officer encompass, but are not limited to:
- Conducting regular patrols of hallways, stairwells, restrooms, outdoor areas, and other public spaces to safeguard the well-being of students and staff.
- Facilitating smooth traffic flow of students during transitions between classes, ensuring timely arrivals.
- Overseeing breakfast and lunch periods, as well as morning arrivals and afternoon dismissals.
- Addressing disruptive behavior by removing students from classes when necessary.
- Collaborating with educational staff, law enforcement, and emergency responders during crises or disturbances.
- Providing assistance to visitors by offering directions and verifying identification.
- Challenging unauthorized individuals on campus and escorting them off the premises.
- Reporting any disciplinary issues, unauthorized visitors, or vandalism to the appropriate administrative personnel.
- Alerting the relevant authorities regarding any signs of substance abuse, child neglect, or other serious concerns.
- Encouraging responsible behavior among students by serving as a positive role model.
- Exhibiting ethical and professional conduct in interactions with students, parents, and staff.
- Performing additional duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1-2 years of prior experience in a security role is preferred.
- Basic understanding of general security protocols.
- Proficient communication skills in English.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Must meet specified physical criteria.
- Demonstrated integrity and strong moral character.
The candidate must be capable of following detailed instructions and establishing collaborative relationships with colleagues. The physical demands outlined are representative of those necessary to successfully fulfill the essential functions of this position.
