The role of the Pastry Artisan is crucial to the dynamic, spirited team that transforms Grand Central Bakery's lively cafes into inviting spaces. The Pastry Artisan is committed to delivering exceptional food and beverages to a community of devoted patrons. They are expected to adeptly manage various tasks as needed, including assisting on the sandwich bar during peak hours, and frequently taking on the responsibilities of Person in Charge (PIC).

Compensation: This position offers a competitive hourly wage along with tips.

  • Average tips range from $8.00 to $10.00 per hour.

Work Schedule: Full-time; a minimum of 25 hours per week.

  • Availability for 5 days with 4 to 5 shifts scheduled weekly.
  • Shifts for bakers commence at 4:30 AM or earlier.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is essential, including weekend availability.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is required.
  • Must possess a valid food handler's card by the start date.
  • Basic math skills are necessary.
  • Professional demeanor and engaging personality with customers are essential.

Physical Requirements:

  • This position operates in an environment that includes a bakery and is regularly exposed to flour and other grain dusts.
  • Standing for the entirety of the shift is required.
  • The role involves working in a bustling atmosphere with frequent interruptions.
  • May require lifting and transporting items weighing up to 20 lbs.
