Job Summary

The Unit Receptionist/Patient Care Technician (UR/PCT) plays a vital role in the smooth functioning of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, this role assists with patient activities and provides exceptional customer service.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Accurately transcribe physicians' orders and complete necessary forms and requisitions.
  • Act as a central communication resource at the nursing station, facilitating patient care activities.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and provide excellent customer service.
  • Initiate, maintain, replace, or complete various clerical forms, reports, and supplies.
  • Assist patients and nurses with ADLs, vital signs, and patient Plan of Care.
  • Transport patients to other units or departments as necessary.
  • Report any changes observed in patient condition or behavior.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Office, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong organizational ability and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent customer service attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility in performing personal work while assisting others with requests.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and maintain confidentiality.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current CNA certification or completion of one year of clinical experience in an accredited RN nursing program.
  • AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent within 3 months of hire.
