We are seeking a Lead Security Software Engineer to collaborate with experienced Penetration Testers in identifying and exploiting vulnerabilities across various service layers, including application, cloud, network, and operational security domains. You will work closely with developers and security experts from multiple teams within Microsoft. By employing the tactics, techniques, and procedures of potential attackers, you will provide essential insights that enable our security teams to enhance defenses and adapt to the ever-changing landscape of digital threats.

Key Responsibilities
- Identify and exploit vulnerabilities comprehensively to evaluate the security of services.
- Conduct Red Team operations utilizing real-world adversarial tactics and techniques to assess a production service's capacity to detect, investigate, and respond.
- Promote security enhancements across the organization by building partnerships and effectively communicating the impact of risks.
- Analyze diverse data sources to pinpoint potential security weaknesses and breach points within Microsoft's infrastructure.
- Collaborate with operational teams to execute targeted attacks on these systems, simulating real-world threat scenarios.
- Develop tools and methodologies to scale and expedite offensive emulation and vulnerability discovery.
- Work with Blue Teams to enhance preparedness and create solutions for defenders and customers.
- Analyze simulated adversary tactics and communications, enriching our defensive strategies and threat intelligence.
- Exemplify our culture and values.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in identifying security vulnerabilities, software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, modeling, cybersecurity, and anomaly detection.
Additional Requirements:
Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
- The successful candidate must possess an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph. Maintaining or obtaining the appropriate U.S. Government clearance and/or customer screening requirements is essential for this role.
- Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements.
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will require passing the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions.
Preferred/Additional Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in identifying security vulnerabilities, software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, modeling, cybersecurity, and anomaly detection.
- OR a Master's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
