Job Summary

This is a critical position in the Respiratory Care department at UC Davis Health System. The Respiratory Care Specialist 5 will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and leading the team in clinical practice, documentation, communication, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • 55% - Clinical Practice: Provide assessment, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures for patients of all ages with critical pulmonary illness and trauma needs.
  • 20% - Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and treatment plans.
  • 15% - Communication: Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure effective communication and coordination of patient care.
  • 10% - Leadership and Research: Lead projects and initiatives to improve patient outcomes and contribute to the development of clinical policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of California.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Clinical specialty certification preferred.
  • Specialty Educator credential issued by the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC) is preferred.
Working Conditions

This position requires standing, walking, and lifting/carrying 0-25 lbs. for continuous 6 to 8+ hours. The work environment is fast-paced and requires sustained attention and concentration.
