["Job Title: Forensic Pathologist - Medical Examiner

The County of Montgomery, PA is seeking a skilled Forensic Pathologist to join our team as a Medical Examiner. As a key member of our Coroner's Office, you will be responsible for examining traumatic, sudden, and unexplained deaths, including those involving the criminal justice and public health systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Perform postmortem examinations and document findings in narrative reports.
  2. Offer objective consultation and/or court testimony to outside agencies.
  3. Determine the cause and manner of death and document written reports of findings.
  4. Examine the body structures and internal organs of human bodies to trace the cause of death, disease, or illness.
Additional Responsibilities:
  1. Identify and preserve evidence found on the body.
  2. Advise health departments and government agencies involved in death investigations with relevant findings.
  3. Serve as an expert witness in depositions, grand jury sessions, trials, and conferences with attorneys.
  4. Provide training to forensic technicians, investigators, photographers, interns, and other personnel assisting in the medicolegal death investigation.
Qualification Requirements:
  • Preferrred five years of experience working in a Coroner or Medical Examiner office.
  • Must be a licensed physician to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Must be a pathologist board certified by the American Board of Pathology or the American Osteopathic Board of Pathology in anatomic and forensic pathology.
Work Environment:

The employee may be exposed to health and environmental hazards. Standard work hours must be flexible, and may include days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
