Job Summary

The Shift Leader is a key member of our restaurant team, responsible for ensuring that all safety and quality standards are met while leading and coaching the team to deliver exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead by Example: Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and quality, and lead the team to do the same.
  • Coaching and Development: Provide guidance and support to team members to help them improve their skills and performance.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee daily operations, including food preparation, customer service, and cash handling.
  • Conflict Resolution: Address conflicts and issues in a fair and professional manner, and work to resolve them quickly.
  • Accountability: Hold team members accountable for their tasks and responsibilities, and ensure that they are meeting the expected standards.
  • Zone Walks: Conduct regular zone walks to ensure that all areas of the restaurant are clean and well-maintained.
  • Deployment Chart: Review the deployment chart to ensure that team members are in the right places at the right times.
  • Shift Change Procedures: Execute back-of-house shift change procedures to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Assessments: Conduct regular assessments of each zone to identify areas for improvement.
  • Break Planning: Plan and assign breaks for team members to ensure that they have adequate time to rest and recharge.
  • Goal Setting: Post daily goals and use the SWS form to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
Requirements
  • Experience: 1+ years supervisory experience in a food service or retail environment, with profit & loss accountability, schedule writing, and team member development.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills to coach and guide team members, and to resolve conflicts and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with team members, customers, and management.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to execute shift changes, zone walks, and other operational tasks.
  • Safety and Quality Knowledge: Knowledge of safety and quality standards in the food industry, and the ability to complete food safety checklists and verify adherence to standards.
Physical Demands
  • Temperature Extremes: Withstand temperatures of 0 degrees Fahrenheit or less and 100 degrees Fahrenheit or more.
  • Physical Activity: Move throughout the restaurant for extended periods (up to 10-12 hours per day), and move 50 lbs. for distances of up to 10 feet.
  • Balance and Mobility: Balance and move up to 25 lbs. for distances of up to 50 feet, and climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Sensory Requirements: Understand and respond to team members' and customers' requests in a loud environment, and have specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
