Position Summary
The role of the Senior Electrical Engineer involves providing expertise in electrical and instrumentation systems, preparing specifications, and resolving engineering maintenance challenges. You will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, supervisors, and skilled tradespeople to ensure the effective maintenance and enhancement of equipment within a chemical processing environment.

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Designing, sizing, and specifying electrical, instrumentation, and control systems to energize, indicate, measure, and regulate production processes.
  • Establishing design criteria, drafting procurement specifications, evaluating bids, and managing contracts for electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Planning maintenance, repairs, and installations of electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Reviewing documents and drawings produced by engineering and drafting teams.
  • Initiating material procurement and coordinating with purchasing and vendors to ensure timely delivery.
  • Verifying vendor-supplied drawings and integrating them into project documentation.
  • Conducting equipment checkout at vendor sites and providing field support during pre-commissioning and startup phases.
  • Adhering to company policies and safety regulations, including NFPA 70E and OSHA standards.
  • Assisting supervisors and craftsmen with troubleshooting and repairs to maintain optimal plant operations.
  • Participating in continuous improvement initiatives and contributing to project teams.

Qualifications
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution. Candidates must demonstrate:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical distribution and instrumentation standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Experience with DCS, PLC, and SCADA/HMI control systems.
  • Proficiency in databases and instrumentation software tools.
  • Hands-on experience in heavy industrial electrical and instrumentation engineering design, checkout, and commissioning.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Physical Demands
This position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, and climbing, as well as the ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment
The work environment may vary, including moderate noise levels in office settings and exposure to operational units requiring personal protective equipment. Occasional travel may be necessary for job duties.
