Position Overview:
The Control Systems Automation Specialist plays a pivotal role in the comprehensive deployment of automated control systems, which encompass process control systems, industrial automation, SCADA systems for water and wastewater management, and various digital control frameworks.


Reporting Structure:
Reports to the Department Manager.

Key Responsibilities:


1. Plan, organize, and design the implementation of engineering solutions, ensuring adherence to industry standards and achieving quality results.
2. Identify significant technical challenges and risks, providing the necessary resources to navigate through them.
3. Oversee the engineering project process and the realization of objectives, facilitating the standardization of design and execution strategies.
4. Assist in estimating resources for specific project tasks and prepare relevant statements of work as needed.
5. Design and implement cellular and RF communication networks tailored for SCADA systems and Remote Terminal Units (RTUs).
6. Develop software point/tag databases for automation system initiatives.
7. Collaborate with the graphics team and clients to create required graphic displays.
8. Create and deploy PLC-based and other digital controller programs for automated control and data acquisition.
9. Develop Human Machine Interface (HMI) applications.
10. Design control system circuits to execute necessary automatic control sequences, safety functions, and operational requirements.
11. Specify hardware components for new or existing designs to meet defined specifications.
12. Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and prepare Operation & Maintenance Manuals as required.
13. Support the training and onboarding of newly hired Automation Engineers and technicians.
14. Ensure compliance with internal documentation standards.


Qualifications:
1. Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
2. Minimum of five years of experience in engineering, development, or related fields.
3. Proven ability to lead technical teams on medium to large-scale, complex projects.
4. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
5. High organizational and time management skills with a keen attention to detail.
6. Eight years of experience with various automation hardware, including PLCs, Direct Digital Controllers, and Distributed Control Systems.
7. Eight years of experience with commercial SCADA or Building Automation software, including HMI software.
8. Familiarity with Allen-Bradley and Modicon PLCs is advantageous.
9. Experience or certification with Ignition or VTScada software is a plus.
10. Intermediate knowledge of IT, networking, and server operating systems.
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid Driver's License.

Travel Requirements:
May require occasional or extended travel based on project needs.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and respond to inquiries from clients and business partners.

Mathematical Skills:
Proficient in basic mathematical operations and able to interpret data through graphs and ratios.

Computer Skills:
Proficient in PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming software; AutoCAD; SQL Database; Excel; and Word Processing software.
Confidential Data:
Handle confidential data related to development projects and profit margins, ensuring company interests are protected.
