Key Responsibilities- Assist in Providing Resident Care: Assist nursing personnel in providing resident care, including assisting with daily living activities, administering medications, and monitoring vital signs.
- Support Nursing Staff: Assist with staffing coverage, including taking call and providing support to nursing staff during their assigned work hours.
- Delegate Duties: Delegate tasks to non-licensed nursing personnel and monitor their performance under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Assist with Quality Assurance: Assist with quality assurance data collection, analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Adhere to Infection Control Protocols: Adhere to all regulations pertaining to cleanliness, infection control, and standard precautions.
- Assist with Records and Orders: Assist with records, orders, and assessment of new admissions to the unit.
- Attend Meetings: Attend nurse department meetings as scheduled.
- Monitor and Measure Decubiti: Monitor and measure decubiti weekly and complete integument watch assessment forms accurately.
- Report Performance Issues: Report any possible performance issues by employees within the facility to the RN for determination if disciplinary action is required.
- Assist with Lab Requests: Assist with lab requests as ordered per facility policy using appropriate techniques.
- Assist with Emergencies: Assist with emergencies arising while on duty, including performing CPR if needed.
- Notify Attending MD: Notify attending MD of any change or illness of patients in the unit.
- Implement Orders: Implement orders as instructed or ordered by MD.
- Coordinate Health Care Team: Coordinate the health care team, including rehab aides duties and assignments.
- High School Graduate: Must be a high school graduate.
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) graduated from an accredited School of Nursing, with a current, valid license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in North Carolina and submit proof of license renewal.
- Quality Nursing Care: Must provide quality-nursing care to patients, follow doctor's orders, and have a genuine interest in geriatric nursing.
- CPR Certification: Must be CPR certified yearly and attend in-service training and other staff meetings as required.
- Decision Making: Must have ability to make decisions regarding nursing and unit problems realizing that errors and incompetence may have serious consequences for patients and/or staff.
- Problem Solving: Must be able to work well under pressure, problem solve, and perform various jobs.
- Policy Adherence: Must read, know and follow personnel, department and facility policies and procedures and adhere to local, state and federal requirements.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to maneuver medication carts, treatment carts and other nursing equipment.
