The Cardiac Care Unit operates in a dynamic environment with a high turnover rate, emphasizing teamwork and collaboration with interdisciplinary partners to meet patient needs effectively.
Available Resources:
The unit is supported by a charge nurse, heart failure nurse, cardiac rehabilitation specialists, case managers, social workers, respiratory therapists, and pharmacists.
Essential Nursing Skills:
Key nursing skills include patient assessment, intravenous therapy, management of cardiac medications, post-procedure care, and patient education during discharge.
Equipment Utilized:
The role involves the use of IV pumps, sequential compression devices, bedside monitors, cardiac monitoring systems, oxygen delivery systems, and patient mobility aids.
Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an Associate's Degree in Nursing or a nursing diploma and hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois upon hire. Additional requirements include completing necessary continuing education related to acute stroke care and maintaining competencies for critical care.

- Conduct comprehensive assessments upon patient admission and formulate individualized care plans.
- Implement nursing interventions and modify care plans based on ongoing evaluations.
