Job Summary

The Local CDL Driver is responsible for the safe transportation and delivery of customer materials within a 100-mile radius from the assigned facility. Key responsibilities include driving the company truck to deliver orders to customers, loading and unloading materials, and assisting in the warehouse when not driving.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a Class B straight truck with a 26' bed to deliver orders to customers.
  • Load and unload materials from the company truck, ensuring secure loads.
  • Assist in the warehouse as needed, utilizing equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
  • Comply with company and DOT policies and procedures, prioritizing safety regulations.
  • Perform pre-trip inspections, maintain accurate logbooks, and document work and rest periods.
  • Conduct post-trip inspections and report any issues to the supervisor.
Working Conditions:
  • Monday - Friday, 1st shift.
  • 75% of time spent outside the facility, 25% in the warehouse.
  • Personal protective equipment required, including steel or composite toe boots, safety glasses, and cut-resistant gloves and arm guards.
Requirements:
  • Valid commercial motor vehicle operator's license issued by one state or jurisdiction.
  • Class B Commercial Driver's License (operating a power unit with a GVWR of 26,001 or pounds without a trailer).
  • Ability to speak and read English to converse with the public, understand traffic signs and signals, and respond to official questions.
  • Currently hold or ability to obtain a non-excepted interstate DOT medical card.
  • Pass a driver's road test or equivalent.
  • Must be comfortable with making local deliveries with multiple stops.
  • No more than two (2) moving violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
  • No serious traffic violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
  • No preventable accidents while operating a CMV in the last three (3) years.
  • No preventable DOT recordable accidents while operating a CMV in the last five (3) years.
  • No preventable accident resulting in a fatality or catastrophic injury in driving history.
  • No positive or refused drug or alcohol test in the previous five (3) years.
  • Must currently live within 60 miles of the assigned facility or willing to establish a residence within 60 miles by 90 days from date of hire.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Class B - minimum of 12 months verifiable experience working in a full-time Class B tractor driving position in the previous three (3) years or two (2) years of documented tractor-trailer experience in the last five (3) years.
  • Must be at least 23 years of age.
