Position Overview

As a Certified Anesthesia Practitioner, you will work under the supervision of an Anesthesiologist to ensure the safe administration of anesthesia during various medical procedures. Your responsibilities will include preparing necessary supplies and equipment, as well as administering intravenous, spinal, and other anesthetic agents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor patient responses and vital signs throughout the anesthesia process, taking necessary actions when required.
  • Compile and submit detailed postoperative reports regarding patient conditions, maintaining accurate records of anesthetic administration.
  • Provide anesthesia services, including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care, ensuring the induction and maintenance of anesthesia at optimal levels.
  • Support life functions during anesthesia administration, including intubation and emergency response as needed.
  • Conduct pre-anesthesia evaluations, ensuring all relevant tests are completed and patient assessments are thorough.
  • Perform post-anesthesia duties, including monitoring patients until it is safe to transfer care to other qualified personnel.
  • Administer post-operative pain relief in collaboration with surgical teams, addressing any anesthesia-related complications.
  • Manage narcotic medication accounting and distribution under the guidance of an Anesthesiologist.
  • Assist nursing staff with challenging intravenous insertions when necessary.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to Anesthesiologist Assistant students.
  • Engage in patient positioning and transportation tasks, adhering to proper lifting techniques.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday.

Licenses & Certifications

Applicants must possess a valid Anesthesiologist Assistant license issued by the state of Wisconsin, along with the following certifications:

  • Anesthesiologist Assistant (AA-C) certification from the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA) within 18 months.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months, unless exempted by department leadership.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months, unless exempted by department leadership.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)/American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).

Educational Requirements

A Master's Degree in Anesthesia is required for this position.

Experience

No prior experience is necessary.
