Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bartender to join our team at the Dundee Township Parks District. As a Bartender, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our patrons, preparing and serving beverages and food items, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Customer Service
- Welcome and greet patrons, advising of any restaurant/bar specials.
- Check identification to ensure customers are the legal age to purchase alcohol.
- Make beverage recommendations and take beverage and/or food orders.
- Bar Operations
- Handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register.
- Select and mix ingredients according to customer requests or by recipe.
- Garnish glasses/plates for presentation.
- Food Safety and Sanitation
- Adhere to all food safety and quality regulations.
- Maintain sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas, including bar and dining area.
- Inventory Control and Ordering
- Assist in planning drink menus and informing customers about new beverages and specials, as needed.
- Assist in inventory control and ordering supplies, as needed.
- Communication and Teamwork
- Develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with coworkers and to promote and maintain high morale and enthusiasm.
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Communicate matters of importance in a timely manner.
- Safety and Risk Management
- Maintain a working knowledge of all general and departmental-specific safety rules.
- Use material handling equipment or staff assistance when lifting and/or moving objects 50 pounds or heavier.
- Report any work-related injuries to supervisor promptly.
- Must be 21 years of age and have BASSET alcohol training and Food Handler's certifications or must obtain certificates within thirty (30) days from the beginning of employment.
- Ability to prepare standard mixed drinks and pour wine and beer is required.
- Ability to properly handle kitchen cutlery and slicing equipment.
- Excellent people skills (friendliness, tact, patience and courtesy), good personal appearance, ability to interact socially, cleanliness, self-motivation and ability to follow written and verbal instructions are required.
This is a part-time year-round non-exempt position.
- January through December (dependent on when course and clubhouse are open)
- 2 to 5 days per week; 6 to 8 hours per day
Weekend or holiday hours may be required as well as extended hours as needed.
