As an AHA Course Coordinator, you will oversee the educational components of the American Heart Association (AHA) training programs. Your role will involve ensuring that all training sessions adhere to established standards and protocols.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Organizing and managing classrooms and equipment for scheduled training sessions.
  • Ensuring compliance with instructor, equipment, classroom instruction, and student ratios as per AHA and Cleveland Clinic standards.
  • Implementing adult learning methodologies and customizing training materials.
  • Preparing lesson plans based on AHA curriculum and principles, utilizing competency-based education.
  • Delivering engaging and interactive instruction to facilitate learning.
  • Selecting and utilizing audiovisual tools to enhance the educational experience.
  • Assessing and documenting trainee performance and reactions in accordance with program and state-approved formats.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: Associate's Degree or equivalent licensure education is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Certifications: Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP), or Doctor of Medicine (MD) is required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Life Support (PALS) certification is also necessary.


Experience:

A minimum of four years of experience as a Basic Life Support (BLS) provider or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) provider through the American Heart Association, including at least two years as an AHA instructor in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or Pediatric Life Support (PALS) is required.


Skills:

Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with effective interpersonal abilities, are essential. You should possess excellent planning, organizational, and teaching skills, with a focus on initiative and results orientation.

Physical Requirements: The role requires a high degree of dexterity for document preparation on a PC, normal or corrected vision, hearing, and speech capabilities, and the ability to engage in extensive sitting, standing, and walking, with occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
