About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Level Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Ryder. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing complex mechanical and electronic repairs on our fleet of heavy duty vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, including oil changes, brake and tire work
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer systems
  • Complete detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Work unsupervised on most tasks
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints
  • Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation
  • Work in accordance with all federal and corporate compliance guidelines
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or Technical Certification or Post Secondary degree preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
  • Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred
  • All other certification as required by location
Additional Requirements
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment
  • Knowledge of and the ability to apply knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
  • Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
