Job Summary

Prisma Health is seeking a skilled Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist to join our team. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of procedures applying ionizing radiation, working under the direction of the manager and in-charge technologist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform CT scans as directed by the manager, communicating with physicians and other work-related personnel appropriately.
  • Identify patients and procedures, communicate with nursing or physician concerning patient, and inform nursing of patients that need IV sedation or biopsies.
  • Fill out CT questionnaire and female questionnaire on all patients between the ages of 12-55 years old, position patients accurately for all CT procedures, and transfer and position patients correctly for anatomy to be demonstrated for best visibility.
  • Know scanning protocols in depth, perform procedures correctly using protocol book for reference, and write time procedure is finished and filmed on patient board.
  • Obtain appropriate supplies and prepare room for patient, keep room cleaned and stocked at all times, and use proper technique when injection IV contrast.
  • Ensure IV is working and checked first with an injection of saline, choose correct method of injection (hand or injector), and be proficient in filming from imaging workstation.
  • Respond to codes and other emergency situations, explain CT procedure to patient and/or family member, obtain completed questionnaire and proper history and clinical from patient, floor or physician's office, and inform patients and families of all delays.
  • Train co-workers and students, assist other technologists when not busy in assigned CT room, acquire requisition and check for appropriate clinical, charge procedure, supplies and surgical codes when exam is completed, and indicate no-film badge wearing name and fluoro time.
  • Operate the PAC's system appropriately and verify studies before sending to archive, report equipment problems to supervisor, in-charge tech, and document confirmation numbers, and complete appropriate forms for all procedures.
  • Fill out contrast sheet on all patients receiving IV and rectal contrast, communicate with radiologist to determine appropriate protocols for each exam, and correct protocols are utilized as prescribed by the radiologist.
  • Perform warm up calibrations as needed, maintain competency needed for working in the CT department, and perform point of care testing.
Requirements
  • Certification Program - Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program with ARRT certification in CT.
  • ARRT Registered and registered in CT.
  • SCQRSA License.
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills.
  • 3D Imaging preferred.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier).
  • Data entry.
