We are seeking a highly skilled GIS Specialist to join our team at the U.S. Department of the Interior. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and utilizing GIS data and workflows to support park needs.
Key Responsibilities- Design and maintain GIS databases to support park operations.
- Create geospatial data and maps following established guidelines and best practices.
- Integrate a wide range of data topics (biological, physical, or cultural) into tabular and spatial formats.
- Perform spatial analyses to support park management decisions.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and provide good customer service.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- May be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of official duties.
- Must wear a uniform and comply with National Park Service uniform standards.
- Must complete a one-year trial period.
- May be required to travel overnight away from home up to 3 nights per month.
To qualify for this position, you must possess at least one of the following qualifications:
- 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-07 grade level in the Federal service or comparable experience gained in the private sector.
- 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree.
- A combination of education and experience as described above.
To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking.
