Overview:

Position Summary:
This role is designed for a seasoned Surgery RN who has recently retired and is eager to share their expertise with the next generation of nurses within our esteemed organization. The RN will provide professional nursing care in the surgical environment for patients undergoing various invasive procedures.

Work Schedule:
This position operates during daytime hours, specifically from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Key Responsibilities:
As a caregiver in this role, you will be expected to:

  • Perform circulating duties, which include monitoring, documenting, and communicating patient conditions while managing comprehensive nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures.
  • Prepare operating rooms, ensuring all surgical instruments and equipment are ready for use.
  • Execute scrub functions, including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies utilized during surgical procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the AHA, if performing moderate/procedural sedation.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in an RN Surgery role at Cleveland Clinic prior to retirement.
  • Demonstrated clinical proficiency and effective communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with the following qualifications will be favored:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements:
This position requires a full range of motion, including the ability to handle and lift patients, as well as manual dexterity and coordination. The role involves standing and walking for extended periods.

Physical demands include:

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds and the ability to push, pull, and maneuver supply carts weighing more than 75 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment:
Adherence to Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for various procedures is essential.
