Job Summary

The University of Kentucky is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Scientist/Certified to join our team in the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory. As a key member of our laboratory services team, you will be responsible for specimen processing, order processing, rapid and stat testing, gram staining, and reporting positive blood cultures. You will also perform multiplex and routine molecular assays, media QC, and monitor/stock supplies.

About the Role

This is a full-time position that requires a Bachelor's degree in Medical Lab Science with ASCP Certification. You will work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday with rotating weekends. The Laboratory provides services to all aspects of this Level I trauma center and throughout the healthcare enterprise, including solid organ and bone marrow transplant, KY Children's Hospital, and Markey Cancer Center.

Responsibilities

- Perform specimen processing, order processing, rapid and stat testing, gram staining, and reporting positive blood cultures
- Perform multiplex and routine molecular assays, media QC, and monitor/stock supplies
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure accurate and timely test results
- Maintain accurate records and reports

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Medical Lab Science with ASCP Certification

- Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
