Job Summary

FlexStaff is seeking a skilled Travel CT Technologist to join our team in Staten Island, NY. As a Travel CT Technologist, you will be responsible for performing CT procedures, preparing patients for examination, and ensuring the proper use of equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for examination and explain procedures in a clear and concise manner.
  • Set up equipment to administer the proper procedure in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure that a consent form for IV contrast materials has been obtained and screen for pregnancy.
  • Perform CT procedures, including abdominal, thoracic, neurological exams, extremities, sub-periosteal implant planning, radiation therapy treatment planning, biopsies, and more.
  • Prepare patient for exam by placing and positioning patient on exam table within the gantry.
  • Adjust and ensure proper slice thickness and couch increment.
  • In collaboration with Radiologist, extend parameters, if needed, within established imaging protocols.
  • Utilize special devices to reduce exposure to ionizing radiation of radiosensitive areas.
  • Adjust CT equipment to capture appropriate field of view and transmit cases to on-call Radiologist through use of Tele-Radiology system.
  • Administer intravenous (IV) and oral contrast agents as per Radiologist order and perform venipuncture of the appropriate gauge necessary for examination.
  • Explain in layman's terms the administration of IV contrast and complete the IV Contrast Information Sheet with information provided by the patient, family member, or health care proxy.
  • Utilize appropriate flush technique for an existing IV line, if needed, and utilize power injector to administer IV contrast.
  • Recognize and assist in the treatment of contrast agent reactions and IV extravasations.
